Frostproof Martial Arts Academy

Frostproof Martial Arts Academy is a Christian based martial arts school dedicated first to God and then to teaching the art of GoJu Ryu Karate. Our goal is to reach people for Christ while providing a safe environment where families can train. We are also proud to be affiliated with the Sho-Rei-Shobu-Kan Organization. Founded in Lincoln, Nebraska USA by Shihan John Roseberry on October 1, 1972. One of the few remaining goju-ryu organizations in the world that follows the lineage and teachings of Chojun Miyagi's student Seikichi Toguchi, the Sho-Rei-Shobu-Kan remains dedicated to the true spirit of the martial arts – that of peace, compassion, and mutual assistance. Exemplifying these traits is the organization founder, Shihan Roseberry.
Shihan John Roseberry

Shihan Roseberry has been training in both judo and karate since 1955, Shihan Roseberry is one of the most respected and highly accomplished martial artists in the world, holding a 10th degree black belt in Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate-Do, a 7th degree black belt in Judo, and a 3rd degree black belt in Aikido.
An alternate on the 1964 US Olympic Judo Team, he was also the All-Marine Corps Judo champion seven times, the All-Services champ three times, and is the only westerner ever to win the All-Okinawan Judo Championship.
Still training to this day and unlikely to slow down any time in the near future, Shihan Roseberry truly lives by his maxim,

"The answers are on the floor."
